Three teachers get run over by 16 year old 8th grader driving stolen vehicle
That title is unfortunately more fact than fiction. Yes, we have a 16 year old 8th grader who stole a car yesterday. Incidently he was supposed to be sent to an alternative school weeks ago. For some reason he continues to show up at our school everyday - and apparently the administration is not concerned. He is not one of my students...yet. If still here in January he will grace my second period class.
Otherwise today was decent. Most of my classes were moderately behaved, which is about the best I can get. However, I had an irate father yell at my third period class for about twelve minutes and I was missing my two biggest problems second period. So I fell into a lucky situation.
Also the sympathy and, in many cases, empathy from my students was heartfelt and sweet. I suppose they have some redeeming qualities deep down in there. I need to make sure they know I appreciate that and that they continue to cultivate these loving behaviors (because the minute they turn away from me with all their kind words they are chasing another student down the hall cursing the life out of them). Eh, you win some, you lose some.
