Twenty Days of First Semester Remaining

I only have twenty more days to complete my curriculum. Twenty more 90-minute blocks to teach the kids everything that happened from Jackson's presidency to the end of the Civil War. But as I putting off planning those crammed lessons I am faced with the very real possibility that my first semester students will leave my room without ever really learning anything. Are my kids going to leave me with any concrete knowledge that they did not already have? Sure I think most of them can explain the Louisiana Purchase, but any of them write a decent paragraph? Are they leaving social studies with any skills that they didn't have coming in? It is disheartening for me to say that honestly a lot of them will not. This job is so discouraging.
