Now is not the time to post

because today was excruciatingly awful and my hernia is likely not a hernia but now an unknown mass that necessitates a catscan, but I intend on holing myself up for the rest of the night so I might as well write something now. Today was a day that made me question if I have actually made any progress this year. My second period class, usually a very decent group of children, came into my room infuriated about something or other and when I refused to let one student go get her cell phone (banned from school, I might ad) they reacted as though I had cut off their oxygen supply. They act as if every teacher is outrageous. This is what I don't understand about children, they take absolutely no responsibility for their actions and victimize themselves at every turn. Who falls for this though? I can't imagine any adult caving to these 13 year olds. Anyway, so I had to give the entire class detention. I don't care if there are four days left I am not going to tolerate that kind of behavior. The detention was only moderatly successful though - when I dismissed the mild offenders the three ring leaders decided to get up and leave. Since I wasn't going to use my body to shield a 300 pound 14 year old from leaving I couldn't do much to stop them. I wrote them up, but seeing as our administrator was not here not much could be done. There is a roadblock at every turn in this school. The whole thing is infuriating.
