Future

While it seems premature to discuss the future while I still have 16 months left I think it's healthy to start considering where I would like to go after this. I certainly still feel a drive to stay somewhere in the education field and I have two basic reasons for being here. 1) I enjoy teaching. I don't necessarily like children, but I like teaching. Although I don't love my job right now I believe that in a more functional situation I really enjoy the job. 2) I see education as the more natural way to help cure the problems in our society. So I'm torn. If I stay in teaching I don't know that I can really stay in urban education. I don't think I'd ever enjoy it enough to make it worth it. But if I go into educational policy I won't be in the classroom anymore. Perhaps there is some in between. I think I may be best suited for a city magnet school setting. Although museum education and library science are also still appealing. Like I said, I have plenty of time.

Although there is almost a year and a half left in my commitment the summer is approaching much sooner (not 16 months, 16 weeks!) and I have no idea what to do. I'd love to go back to Chicago, but I'm not sure what I would do there. I think I would like to go back home if I could find some lucrative activity to participate in. I don't know that many of my friends would be around but I still think it would be nice to be back. I was home for a month last summer and that barley seemed like enough time. I guess the older I get the more I'd rather be around my family. I might even stay here (although that would be less than ideal) if it meant knocking out some more master's classes and a comfy job or the grant program. Really I just want to work somewhere that means not taking work home. Anyway I'm open to suggestions.

Here's another suggestion (although it is niehter here nor there); don't type anything having to do with less than ideally timed bodily emissions or your comment will be removed. Just a tip for those of you considering doing such a thing.
