Tidbits

Today was thankfully better than all the days preceeding it. I still am exhausted at nine pm, but it's an improvement from the "oh it's only a flesh wound" stabbing fight that occured earlier in the week. Sometimes when the days are good, they also provide an opportunity for me to notice hilarity. Here are a few of today's examples:

One of my student's first name is George and his last name starts with a 'W.' Today he inadvertantly began writing "Washington" as his last name and had to cross it out.
They must be paying SOME attention to what's going on in class.

At one point I told one of my new students to get off her cell phone. "No," she said, "I'm talking to [the math teacher]."

I accidently swore under my breath during lunch time for the first time all year when four students were in my room. One girl laughed so hard she had to leave, then she came back later and laughed some more. There definitely is a beauty in not using profanity all year and then having it emerge as you are struggling to beat a student to complete a 50 states word search.

I'm going to Delaware tomorrow for a conference. All the secretaries know but none of the administrators know. My travel arrangements and basically the entire thing is going to be akward.
