Lots of good, no bad, always a little ugly

Today one of our more permanent subs stopped me the in the hall to tell me "it was a pleasure watching my classes last Friday." Why? "Because your room is so clean. It was so much nicer than any of these other rooms." So that was awfully nice.

One of my classes is semi-working on a civic action project. The pollution in the Chesapeake Bay is their topic (of their own choosing - they are so great). Because I've been so preoccupied with Hopkins and maintaining order one of the shining stars has taken it upon herself to get moving, so she started a petition. She started it on Monday. During class today she showed me her 341 signatures. "And these are my neighbors..." "And these are people outside the mall..." I even saw her, clipboard in hand, canvassing around the parking lot during a fire drill.

Speaking of, we attempted to have faculty meeting, but of course that was thwarted by a fire alarm. Rather than hold a fifty person meeting on the concrete parking lot we were told to go home. The last item on the agenda "Future of the school - Relocation" And now no one knows what this is about. Oh, the anticipation!
