Since I am sitting in the middle of a grad class I might as well post as to not waste all of my time. I am saddened to admit that the because my new school is decidedly less crazy there are considerably fewer examples of insanity. Although today for some reason I was laughing myself silly when in the middle of indepedent work today some student blurted out "I don't have the time for this!" As if she had somewhere else to be. She followed it up with "I'm about to straight up go to sleep." Which I found equally as hilarious.
Not much to report otherwise. The honeymoon is most certainly over, but we aren't headed for divorce court just quite yet. They certainly are bringing out their crazy, but we're doing a decent job of beating them down (theoretically of course, unless you are the school police officer).
What is nice about this year is I am actually able to teach much more relaxed and creatively. I feel as though this is giving me practice for my future in a more stable enviornment. I even have class webpages and was able to take a class down to the computer lab today. We're out of the dark ages! I also am able to collaberate with the other social studies teacher, who is fantastic. We are currently co-teaching a class, which is another neat experiment.
There are lots of comments and "jokes" about race at my school. It makes me slightly uncomfortable when I feel excluded, but I think it will smooth over soon enough. Today I was thanked for integrating the lunch room, so that's a good start. Oh, need to go work.
