Reward or Punish?

(Back story: Both the language arts teacher and I have been teaching inference for the past two weeks)
Today in the midst of our high school testing there was a loud crash in the classroom above mine. Although my class was silently testing, one student took this opportunity to yell out "I can infer that someone is getting their ass beaten." I didn't know whether to scold or applaud.
Crazy children.
