"Ewww Orange"

Today I had my students working independently on an assignment, but wanted to go over it at the end of class. So with about fifteen minutes left I passed out colored markers so they could self-correct their work without changing the answers. In every class - without fail - one student would exclaim, "Hey! Why'd you give me this color?" and depending on the student I would say either: "Because I don't like you" or "Because you're ugly." Oh my god their little insecure egos would dwell on this for at least two minutes. "What do you mean?" "Are you serious?" "You hate me?! whine whine whine" Even though they all knew I was kidding, they had to be reassured like a thousand times. hahahahahahahahahaha.
